About the Financial Controller Role:
As Financial Controller, you will report directly to the Managing Director and provide critical financial insights to drive business growth. You will oversee a finance team, ensuring accurate reporting and financial control, while also identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis – Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and provide meaningful financial insights to senior leadership.
- Performance Monitoring – Track key financial metrics, cost drivers, and variances, ensuring proactive decision-making to enhance profitability.
- Budgeting & Forecasting – Lead the development of annual budgets, cash flow forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
- Compliance & Controls – Maintain strong internal controls, ensuring adherence to financial regulations and timely submission of statutory returns.
- Audit & Year-End Processes – Prepare year-end accounts, liaise with auditors, and present financial reports to senior management.
- Team Leadership – Manage and mentor a finance team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
- Process Improvement – Identify areas for financial and operational efficiencies, driving initiatives to streamline processes and maximise profitability.
What We’re Looking For:
- Fully qualified (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) with experience in a management-level finance role within an SME.
- Strong knowledge of accounting procedures, financial controls, and reporting systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in group reporting and variance analysis is highly desirable.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
