Salary: £30-32,000 pa

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9.00am - 3.00pm, (flexible hours considered)

 

 

About the role:

 

Our client, a growing law firm based in Blackburn, is looking for an experienced HR Manager to support Senior Management and the wider practice by delivering comprehensive HR services and ensuring the smooth, efficient running of daily HR operations.

 

Key Responsibilities of the HR Manager:

  • Respond to day-to-day employee queries regarding HR policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Manage the recruitment process, recruitment inboxes, review CVs, arrange interviews, issue job offers, and organise start dates for new employees.
  • Oversee the onboarding process, including conducting inductions and ensuring all documentation, systems access, and equipment are prepared.
  • Ensure all employee contracts are accurate, up to date, and stored electronically, with correct company and role details.
  • Monitor staff attendance and maintain accurate absence records.
  • Prepare both electronic and manual reports to support payroll processing.
  • Liaise with recruitment agencies to coordinate and manage the full recruitment lifecycle.
  • Manage disciplinary procedures and performance review processes in accordance with company policies.
  • Conduct exit interviews and handle the full offboarding process for leavers.
  • Chase and obtain employment references in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Day to day office management
  • Implement and uphold the company’s tidy desk and tidy office policies.
  • Oversee shredding and the secure disposal of confidential documents.
  • Carry out fire alarm tests and other routine safety checks.
  • Conduct office risk assessments and provide ongoing health and safety guidance and updates.
  • Manage stationery supplies and ensure timely ordering and distribution.
  • Coordinate bookings for training courses, webinars, and relevant professional development activities.
  • Monitor first aid certifications and organise training or renewal courses as required.

 

Skills & Experience required for the role:

 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an HR role, with solid knowledge of employment law and HR processes.
  • Highly self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise and manage workload independently.
  • Able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment and remain composed when managing demanding situations.
  • Excellent time-management skills with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Proactive in enhancing existing practices and contributing to the organisation’s overall objectives and policies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Confident IT user, with experience using HR systems.
  • Hands-on experience responding to client and employee queries both face-to-face and by phone.
  • Good working knowledge of GDPR, equality legislation, and HR compliance requirements.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification preferred but not essential (or equivalent HR experience) is preferred.
