Hours: Monday-Friday, 42.5 hours per week, flexible hours
About the Role:
Our rapidly growing client, based in South Kirkby, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Raw Material Coordinator to join their team. This role is crucial in ensuring that all raw materials meet their strict quality standards and customer specifications. You’ll play a vital part in maintaining supplier compliance, improving raw material quality, and supporting internal teams with technical knowledge—particularly in butchery and meat specifications.

Key Responsibilities of the Raw Materials Co-ordinator:
- Evaluate incoming raw materials against approved specifications to ensure they meet the standards the company buy against.
- Work alongside the technical team to maintain and update supplier specifications as needed, ensuring current and accurate documentation.
- Actively monitor the quality of raw materials on-site to ensure alignment with customer expectations and product specifications.
- Report all findings (positive and negative) to the Technical Manager, and collaborate with Commercial, Operational teams, and suppliers accordingly.
- Drive improvements in raw material quality across the site over time through analysis, supplier engagement, and proactive management.
- Build strong, transparent relationships with suppliers based on compliance, integrity, and collaboration.
- Quantify and discuss potential improvements to butchery techniques or packaging formats with internal teams before engaging suppliers.
- Raise NCRs or rejection notices for any raw materials not meeting specification, and ensure issues are communicated internally.
- Conduct site visits with the Technical Manager to support specification development and resolve quality concerns.
- Support production leaders and staff with understanding of butchery specifications and meat cuts used in products.
- Generate regular reports and trend analyses to monitor and communicate customer performance data.
- Once established in the role, lead weekly/monthly performance calls with suppliers.
- Use butchery knowledge to enhance the value and utility of raw materials on-site.
- Prepare for and participate in factory visits and technical audits.
- Conduct in-process assessments of raw materials using techniques such as cook-ups, Foss analysis, and butchery checks.
- Support online assessment of raw materials to verify supplier claims or identify reasons for material downgrades.
Experience and Qualifications required for the role:
- Strong butchery knowledge across Beef, Lamb, and Pork
- HACCP-trained
- Food Hygiene certification
- Willingness to undertake additional training as required to support business needs and stay current with industry changes and customer codes of practice
Preferred Skills:
- IT literate, Word & Excel
- Familiarity with 3rd party audits and regulatory bodies such as BRC, EFSIS, Red Tractor, Retailers, EHO, and TSO
- Collaborative team player with a focus on continuous improvement
- Understanding of both digital and paper-based specification systems
